Wednesday night is party night for the people of Preston as Spire hold their weekly shindig for adults who have learning disabilities at Glovers Bar in Preston city centre.
The social evening started in February 2011 and has now established itself as one of the most looked forward to events on the learning disability social calendar. For many years, it was held at The Old Bull and Royal known as Kolor Bar. However, in August 2018, we decided a revamp was in order as we had outgrown the previous venue. Therefore, we moved to Glovers Bar and rebranded Kolor Bar as Club 98. A name chosen by the individuals we support to represent when Spire first started.
The event is not-for-profit so all money raised is invested into special regular theme nights including rock nights, beach party's and halloween party's.
Club 98 is in a prime location for users of public transport situated just a few hundred yards from Preston Bus Station and train station, with bus stops close by and a taxi rank close. For those with cars there is also a car park across from Glovers.
Entry is just £3.00 (carers go free). There is also a weekly raffle for your chance to win prizes. The doors open at 6:30pm, and finishes around 8:30pm. We have a DJ who plays the classic songs you'll never forget, as well as current top hits. We also have slotted karaoke bookings available if you fancy singing your heart out.
The bar serves a wide range of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks as well as bar snacks. Glovers Bar, located on Glovers Court (PR1 3LS), is also wheelchair accessible with disabled toilet facilities.
