What is Outreach Support?
Our outreach team members visit the individuals we support in their own homes for a number of hours per week to provide support with different aspects of life. This is often for social activities but can also include support with cleaning, budgeting, diet, health etc.
Outreach support is often commissioned by social services following an assessment but can also be funded privately or with respite vouchers.
Our Outreach Service
Our specialist outreach service was set up in May 2012 and continues to grow from strength to strength with Spire's person centred ethos firmly at the heart of it.
We understand that new people frequently visiting your home can be very intrusive. For that reason we look to introduce just a small team of support workers to provide the support, often including a member of the management team to ensure that familiar support can be provided even in emergency situations.
Due to the small size of the outreach service the management team are able to meet regularly with and get to know the people they're responsible for the care of.
The outreach service prides itself on the speed in which it can provide support in a crisis situation. Not only do we provide a suitable support worker but we ensure that the team members you're introduced to at the start will continue to support you to form the basis of your team.
We also provide emergency support as part of the Peace of Mind for Carers scheme.
Our Outreach Support Workers
Our outreach team members are carefully chosen with the aim to provide a bespoke service to the people we support. Rather than focussing entirely on experience and qualifications we look to employ the right people for you, with your help, looking at similar interests and skills and matching them to you.
During recruitment outreach support workers are asked to attend a competency assessment and interview before being invited to meet some of the people we support. While it's important that we're satisfied that a new team member is able to do their job properly, it's even more important that the people we support are being supported by people they want supporting them, and are able to help us to make these decisions.
