We are delighted to present some of the feedback we have received from our latest CQC inspection.

We were last reviewed by CQC (Care Quality Commission) during an unarranged inspection in September 2013. CQC observed how people were cared for at each stage of their support with Spire, talked with people who represent the interests of people who use services and talked with people who use the service. They talked with carers and family members, staff and stakeholders. We are delighted that CQC have reported that Spire meet all of their required criteria. Below are some snippets from CQC's summary of the inspection:

People using the service told us they were very happy with the service. They liked the staff that supported them. "I like it here; everyone is very nice to me and helps me when I need it"

A parent told us "I have to say they are very good at doing activities with her. She really likes her carers. They are the same people that visit and this is important to her. I can only praise the level of service she gets"

Assessment of people's need was thorough and person centred with focus on their individual circumstances and immediate and longer-term needs. Care plans placed an emphasis on people's right to be self-determining in how they lived their lives as valued citizens within the wider community.

Peoples' capacity to make their wishes known either verbally or non-verbally was also recorded and appropriate communication methods used. The right of people to take informed risks had been acknowledged and risk assessments ensured a balance of safety and effectiveness. People were given guidance and support to keep safe in their home and in the community.

People were cared for by staff that were recruited properly and trained well. People could help to choose their new carer.

People said they were consulted all the time about the service they received. They particularly liked their tenants meetings
